Dentist

Katie qualified at Guy’s Dental Hospital London in 1992 and joined the practice in May 2014. Katie’s philosophy is that behind each set of teeth is a person, and she understands the importance of listening and keeping you at ease. From the initial consultation to treatment, her manner is calm, friendly, and approachable. She is an experienced Denplan dentist with an aptitude for treating nervous patients and children. Her previous experience also includes Dental Education and Foundation Training with Leeds University and the Certificate in Mentoring in Dentistry with the FGDP. Katie also works in London for the General Dental Council as a Fitness to Practice panel member. Katie is interested in facial aesthetics, providing anti-wrinkle injections and fillers, having trained exclusively with Skin Viva in Manchester, and will introduce some of these treatments to the practice in the near future. Her favourite pastime is orienteering and she has competed throughout the UK with her husband and teenage children. Katie is also a keen fundraiser, through cycling events, for Marie Curie.

Hygienist

Amanda is our dental hygienist and joined the practice in January 2019. She works with the latest techniques in periodontology and dentistry. Amanda has a huge amount of experience dealing with a variety of patients and their dental needs. Her lovely Scottish personality shines through and her calm and positive approach will certainly have you smiling!

James qualified from the University of Leeds in 2018 and will gain experience at Birdgate Dental throughout 2019 whilst having support from Dr Glover and the rest of the team. James has a very approachable manner and will make our patients feel at ease once they are in the surgery.

Principal Dentist

Sarah is the principal dentist and practice owner of Birdgate Dental. She qualified from the University of Wales in 1996 and has been at Birdgate Dental since then. She continued her professional education in Manchester and was awarded the Diploma in Restorative Dentistry from the Royal College of Surgeons (England) in 2009. Dr Glover undertook research at Leeds University to gain an MSc, with Merit, in Clinical Dentistry in 2012. She is currently completing the Diploma in Implant Dentistry from the Royal College of Surgeons (England). Dr Glover has also been an examiner in Restorative Dentistry for the FGDP Royal College of Surgeons in London and also previously been an Honorary Tutor for Leeds Dental Institute, teaching undergraduate students.

Dr Glover has worked in the department of Oral and Maxillo Facial Surgery at Scarborough hospital, where she gained valuable experience in surgical techniques. She is also a member of the Association of Dental Implantology, the British Society of Restorative Dentistry, and the British Society of Periodontology. Dr Glover believes in providing dentistry to the highest standards, using the latest materials and equipment. She also takes referrals from other dentists in the North East.

In her spare time, Dr Glover can be found on her mountain bike in the local forests or on the moors near Pickering. She is a keen charity fundraiser of Antibiotic Research UK and advises them on the dental aspect of antibiotic use and education. Dr Glover completed her Mountain Rescue training in 2018 and is now a full team member of the Scarborough and Ryedale Mountain Rescue Team, a vital role in the community!
