If you’re looking for facial rejuvenation and anti-wrinkle treatments then Birdgate Dental has the answer. Our experienced facial aesthetics practitioner offers non-surgical treatments as a way of reducing the signs of ageing, resulting in a natural more youthful appearance. This achieved using a range of treatments using anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers.
Dentists are ideal clinicians to provide facial aesthetic treatments due to their outstanding knowledge of the head and neck, including soft tissues and muscle structures as well as the underlying nerves and blood vessels.
Wrinkle reduction injections work by relaxing the underlying muscle, which has the effect of smoothing out those deep expression lines on the forehead, between the eyebrows and around the eyes making you look younger and fresher. In some cases, these injections can also be used to improve the appearance of a gummy smile, or to combat excessive sweating.
Safeguarding your complexion
Completely safe and backed by decades of scientific research, Botulinum Toxin A is a temporary treatment that will last for four to six months. However with repeated treatments, it can have long-term benefits, too. The anti-wrinkle injections not only smooth out the areas that currently bother you, but in reducing the activity of those underlying muscles, it also helps prevent the formation of new lines and wrinkles. And that means you stay looking the way you want to for longer.
At Birdgate we also offer Dermal Fillers that restore natural volume to lips and cheeks, to refresh and enhance your appearance. Dermal fillers are not only used to fill or restore lost volume in static wrinkles, lines and folds, but also to add definition to lips and cheeks, plus the softening fine lines around the mouth.
Dermal fillers contain Hyaluronic acid which is a product that is naturally found in the body. The molecules attract water which fill and plump up the skin. Dermal fillers normally last about six to nine months depending upon the type and brand of filler used plus the structure, lifestyle and age of the client. We would suggest using fillers with smaller particles for superficial lines and larger filler particles for deeper wrinkles to restore lost volume, skin creases and lips. This will all be discussed at your free consultation.
The dermal fillers contain an anaesthetic called lidocaine which reduce the discomfort during treatments, plus local anaesthetic cream will be applied to the area before placement.
Results are seen immediately with people being able to return to work and their normal routine the same day. Sometimes at the injection site reactions can occur including redness, swelling, pain and tenderness which resolve themselves after a few days.
Allergic reactions are uncommon with one in 15,000 people experiencing hypersensitivity after having hyaluronic fillers.
How does the anti-wrinkle injections reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles?
We inject Botulinum Toxin A in targeted areas to block the signal from the nerve to the nerve endings. The underlying muscle is effectively ‘frozen’, so when you laugh or frown, your skin looks and feels smoother.
What kind of results can I expect?
The area we treat will appear smoother, with fewer wrinkles, lines and creases. This should last for about three to four months. You can also have top-up treatments to prolong the effects. Please be aware that the treatment will not affect any static wrinkles that are not linked to facial contraction.
When will I start to see the changes?
You should notice the changes around seven days after your treatment. But this does vary from patient to patient, so it could take between two to three weeks for you to see the full effects.
How do you carry out the treatment?
The procedure is quick, safe and virtually pain-free. During your consultation the areas in question will be photographed and we will look at the movement of your muscles and the areas of concern to devise an exclusive treatment plan.
Is it safe?
Yes. The cosmetic benefits of botulinum toxin were discovered in 1990 and it has been used effectively and safely ever since. It is widely used in various other areas of medicine and, due to the very small dosage, is very safe. It is only placed locally in certain muscles, and the procedure is carried out with a high level of precision to achieve the desired result.
How much does it cost?
Prices start from £150 depending upon the area to be injected and the amount of botulinum toxin required.
